Machine Learning in the Cloud
The Technology Innovation Institute of Abu Dhabi stands as a pioneering institution dedicated to advancing cutting-edge technology and fostering modernization across various domains. As a leading research and development hub in the region, the institute is committed to driving transformative breakthroughs in various fields such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and autonomous systems. One of the Institute’s most notable achievements is the creation of the Falcon LLM, a state-of-the-art large language model, showcasing the institute’s commitment to enhancing natural language processing and machine learning.
The Silent Engine
To complement the power of the Falcon LLM, TII needed an impressive user interface that would be functional to relay user requests to the model in the back-end as well as offer an aesthetic and immersive user experience. To do this, we offered to add speech-to-text and text-to-speech capabilities as well as design and implement an interactive customizable three-dimensional character that would virtually be the point of contact between the user and the LLM.
The Virtual Companion
For this purpose, we used Amazon Lex to create a conversational interface so that the user’s message is accepted as speech and converted to text to be used as input to the Falcon LLM. The output of the LLM is then spoken by the 3d avatar, providing the user with a valuable interactive experience. The most exciting feature of the project is Lex’s multilingual support, allowing us to seamlessly switch between English and Arabic to suit the needs of the region.
Thus, we set up a complete and highly-available workload on AWS to be able to use the language processing features of Amazon Lex alongside the power of TII’s Falcon.
Result Driven
The use of AWS techonologies and in-house design of a functional animated 3D avatar elevated the experience of using the Falcon LLM’s processing power, transforming it into an engaging and futuristic experience.
Interactive Experience
Leveraging Amazon Lex introduces a dynamic dimension to the user experience. The incorporation of a design character, coupled with Amazon Lex's natural language understanding capabilities, creates a seamless and immersive interaction. Users can enjoy a personalized and responsive experience as they interact with the system, enhancing the overall user satisfaction and making the engagement more enjoyable.
Mulitilingual Support
Amazon Lex's impressive multilingual support adds a global perspective to conversational interfaces. This feature ensures that users from diverse linguistic backgrounds can interact effortlessly, breaking down language barriers and broadening the reach of interactive applications. Lex's multilingual capabilities not only enhance accessibility but also contribute to a more inclusive and user-friendly experience across a wide range of audiences.
